Comprehensive Eye Exam

Regular eye examinations are an important part of looking after yourself. Your eyes cannot be replaced, and it is so easy to take them for granted. An eye examination is more than a simple eye sight test, and can reveal a number of other underlying health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as detecting early signs of potentially serious eye conditions like glaucoma. The earlier a problem is detected the greater the chance of successful treatment.
Most people should have their eyes examined at least every two years – depending on your age and medical history it may be necessary to have them examined more frequently.
On average a routine eye test takes around 25 minutes to perform. In some cases it may take longer if additional tests are required. Although each exam is specifically tailored to the requirements of the individual.

Home Visits

An increasing number of patients are unable to attend the practice to have their eyes examined. If this is the case for you, please get in touch and we will happily arrange a full eye examination at your home.

Frames/Sunglasses

As everyone has different requirements for both fit and style in their eyewear, we in turn have a comprehensive range of frames (including designer) to suit all personalities and budgets.

In addition we stock a wide selection of frames for both children and adolescents .Your children’s eye health can have a major impact on their development. Often, under performance in school is a sign of poor vision. If your child is having trouble with reading tasks or with seeing the board, an undetected vision problem may be the cause. Regular eye examinations are therefore vital for children, as early detection can prevent years of struggling. We recommend your child should begin having regular eye examinations before starting school.

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses give you the freedom of a wide field of view as there are no limitations from the spectacle rims. Whether you want contact lenses for just sports and social use, or for full time wear as a replacement for spectacles, at Eyewear Opticians we can suggest an appropriate lens type for you.

We are very proud to be one of a few practices in Northern Ireland that have both OCT technology(scan) and Optomap ultra-widefield retinal imaging.

Having an Enhanced Eye Exam with this state of the art technology, means we can spot issues sooner, detecting any changes to your eyes up to 5 years earlier than other methods, and long before you may notice any issues yourself.

It can highlight, or help us to detect early signs of common eye problems such as glaucoma, hypertension, diabetes and age-related macular degeneration.

Our 3D high-definition images let us see more of your eyes than ever before, and all your scans are stored as part of your records. So; when you come in for your next appointment we can compare the images and accurately track any changes in your eye health. These images can also be shared with GP/Consultants as required.
